10 Ways To Give Your Life A Positive Change

10 Tips to Start Making Positive Changes in Your Life
If you’re reading this article, there’s a good chance that you’ve made some lifestyle changes in the past that just didn’t seem to stick. Whether you’re still trying to lose weight after several failed diets or you’re looking to get more organized, change is always easier said than done. However, there are ways to make positive changes stick and these 10 tips will help you start making positive changes in your life today!

Tip 1: Think positive

Take time each day and write down three things you’re grateful for. This practice helps people re-focus on what’s good about their lives, rather than dwelling on negativity and personal problems. On days when you’re feeling particularly troubled, take an extra few minutes to write down as many things as you can think of that make your life better. Once your list is complete, close your eyes and picture each item—just as a reminder of how fortunate you are.

Tip 2: Be patient with yourself

Change is never easy, and it often takes longer than we’d like. Whether you’re trying to lose weight or save money, don’t give up if you haven’t made any progress after a few weeks. Change can happen very slowly, but you have to be persistent and consistent—and that means being patient with yourself. Keep moving forward, even just an inch at a time! Do that enough times, and before long your life will be changed for good.

Tip 3: Put it out there

If you have an idea, chances are others can benefit from it too. Consider volunteering your expertise or launching a side business that applies your know-how in a way that’s beneficial to other people. The more you share with others and teach them how they can achieve similar success, then all of a sudden, you’re no longer a lone wolf making great strides—you’re part of a community helping each other out. That will only help fuel your motivation even more.

Tip 4: Remember your WHY

Revisit your goals, and your motivation for those goals, often. Think about why you’re doing what you’re doing. Why do you want to lose weight? Is it for health reasons? To feel better about yourself? To be able to fit into your favorite pair of jeans again? Write down a list of all of these things, and keep it somewhere where you can refer back to it regularly. It will help keep you motivated!

Tip 5: Stay calm when you slip up

Getting angry, upset or frustrated with yourself when you slip up is pointless. What’s important is that you learn from your mistake and move on. Getting upset at yourself because you ate a bag of chips won’t keep them out of your house next time; it’ll just make you more likely to repeat negative behaviors and do more damage. If you find yourself getting upset over a setback, take some deep breaths and remind yourself that things will get better. You can get back on track as long as you stay calm and figure out what went wrong so you can avoid making similar mistakes in the future.

Tip 6: Reward yourself for being positive

In order to prevent yourself from slipping back into old patterns, it’s important that you have a tangible reward system. You might decide that if you don’t eat junk food for two weeks straight, you can splurge on that pair of shoes you’ve been wanting. Or maybe if you hit your daily meditation goal for one month, then you can treat yourself to an expensive dinner with your friends. Take some time and think about what makes sense for YOU.

Tip 7: Remind yourself that you CAN do it!

Believe it or not, what we tell ourselves has a significant impact on how well we do anything—and for some reason, many of us find it much easier to criticize and put ourselves down than to be supportive and build up our confidence. The next time you’re feeling doubtful about your ability to make positive changes, repeat these affirmations: I am capable. I can do it. I will succeed!

Tip 8: Look at how far you’ve come, not how far you have left to go

When you take a step back and think about how far you’ve come, it can provide some comfort. If you continue down your path of positive change, keep thinking about how far you’ll go. For instance, if there are 10 steps to reach your goal, think about what achieving each step will feel like instead of focusing on reaching your destination. It may not be as fulfilling as reaching your destination (or even getting there at all), but it can help motivate you.

Tip 9: Don’t expect instant results (it’s a process)

Don’t expect results overnight. Change is a process and it takes time for things to fall into place. Don’t allow any setbacks to discourage you from reaching your goal. Make sure you set goals that are realistic so that you can be successful and stay motivated at all times. You may want immediate results, but if you give up too soon or don’t put forth enough effort, your chances of success will be significantly reduced. However, once you’ve reached one goal, celebrate your success by moving on to your next challenge!

Tip 10 : Celebrate your progress

Every time you reach a new milestone, treat yourself. When you get a promotion at work, take your partner out for dinner and drinks. Buy yourself that bathing suit you’ve been eyeing if you hit your weight loss goal. It will serve as an incentive to keep going — and stay confident. You deserve it!In order to make positive changes in your life, you need to celebrate them when they happen. You should always be aware of how far you have come and where you are headed. This helps build confidence and keeps you motivated on those days when things seem difficult or impossible. Celebrating these accomplishments is something we all do naturally; however, we tend not to focus on our successes enough.
